OKOMBONI
The stories of Namibian migrant workers are an important part of our shared history.
These are not simply stories of the past. They are part of our living history.
Many of these memories remain undocumented, overlooked or slowly disappearing.
And for today’s generation, remembering these stories is a way of understanding how the Namibia we know today was shaped by the lives, sacrifices and experiences of ordinary people.
By finding these men and listening to their stories, we can preserve memories that might otherwise be lost and ensure that future generations understand where we come from and how we became who we are.
What was their life like?
What did they experience?
What did they see?
And what happened when they returned home?
Sometimes, history is sitting at home with us.
Sometimes, history is our father.
Our grandfather.
Our uncle.
Our neighbour.
Help us find them.
Help us record their memories.
Help us tell their stories.
Because their memories are part of Namibia’s history
And this history belongs to all of us.
